It is expressed by the number F. It is the ratio between the real diameter and  the focal distance and it shows the brightness of the objective . With a F lower number the brightness is superior.  

F = f / A

Example, an objective of focal length (f) of 200 mm and aperture of 10 mm has a F of:

F = 20 = 200 / 10

For instance, an objective (Fy) with a F of 16 is less luminous than an objective (Fx) with a F of 2 of:

(Fy / Fx)² = 64 times

Viene espressa dal numero F. E' il rapporto fra il diametro effettivo e la distanza focale e indica la luminosita' dell'obiettivo. Con un numero F inferiore la luminosita' e' superiore.

Esempio, un obiettivo di lunghezza focale (f) di 200mm ed un'apertura di 10mm ha un F di:

F = 20 = 200 / 10

Ad esempio un obiettivo (Fy) con un F di 16 e' meno luminoso di un obiettivo (Fx) con un F di 2 di:

(Fy / Fx)² = 64 volte
